AXIS Counselling ShrewsburyAXIS was formed in 1993 as a charity to meet a growing need to help people in Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin to deal with the trauma of childhood sexual, emotional and physical abuse. They provide a locally based, accessible and confidential counselling service for men and women aged 11 years or over. AXIS has an experienced team of qualified counsellors, who have been specifically trained to help clients overcome the traumatic events of their childhood. All members of the AXIS team are specifically chosen not only for their experience and qualifications but for their caring and understanding for survivors of childhood abuse. Counselling is provided on a face to face basis within a friendly, safe and secure counselling environment. Their services are provided to people who have a permanent residence within Shropshire or Telford and Wrekin. They are provided on the basis of need, it is non-discriminatory, and no one is turned away provided they meet the residency criteria. Non residents can attend but they would need to be fully funded, contact us for details.
CafcassCafcass look after the interests of children involved in family court proceedings. They work with children and their families, and then advise the courts on what they consider to be in the best interests of individual children.
Chairs And SparesChairs and Spares are a charity helping those people who for various reasons are in need of furniture or electrical white goods, for example homeless people who have been found accomodation by one of the support agencies working in the Telford area. To donate household furniture and electrical goods telephone their warehouse. Their staff will arrange a free of charge collection of acceptable household furniture or electrical goods. To receive help from the scheme contact your support worker for a referral or visit the Chairs and Spares warehouse to view their stock of household furniture and certificated electrical goods. Selected items of furniture or electrical goods will be delivered to your home in line with their delivery schedule.
Confide Counselling ServiceConfide is a Shropshire-based charity which provides a high quality affordable individual counselling service to residents in Shrewsbury and Telford, also providing training in counselling. It is an accredited Service of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abides by its Ethical Framework.All Confide counsellors have completed a minimum of 2 years training leading to a diploma in counselling, all Confide counsellors are required to undertake ongoing professional development.Confide are thoroughly assessed by internal and external assessors before starting counselling and their work is continually monitored.
Mermaids UKMermaids provides a helpline aimed at supporting transgender youth up to and including the age of 19, their families and professionals working with them. The helpline offers emotional support, a gateway to the parents and teens forums, information about current legislation and protections under the law, plus signposting to training and resources. The helpline is manned by volunteers, so we do not have a definitive schedule of when we can answer your call but aim to answer your calls between 9am

It will be different for everyone. Perhaps you will want to talk to someone who has also lost a baby, or find out about the practical things that need to be done. You many want to meet other bereaved parents in a small group, or you may not want to do anything straight away. However, should you want help when you feel that the time is right, Shropshire Sands is here for you - a year on when you have not forgotten your baby's anniversary, although everyone else around you seems to have. We are also here to provide support for those whose babies died many years ago. The Female Genital Mutilation Helpline The Female Genital Mutilation Helpline will be launched on Monday 24 June 2013 as a UK-wide service. It will operate 24/7, and will be staffed by specially trained child protection helpline counsellors who can offer advice, information, and assistance to members of the public and to professionals. Counsellors will also be able to make referrals, as appropriate, to statutory agencies and other services.
