Bartlett Memorial Fountain ground investigations
Grant funding will be used to carry out exploratory work to understand the foundations needed to return the Bartlett Memorial Fountain to the Market Square in Ironbridge. The fountain commemorates Reverend John Bartlett who brought fresh water to the Gorge, stopping people drinking from the river which was heavily polluted, improving the health of residents. The fountain was moved to the back of Waterloo Street car park by Telford Development Corporation in the 1960s. In the last couple of years there has been a growing campaign to have the fountain returned to the Square.
