To confirm the minutes of the meeting of the Council on the 26/06/2008

To note the Mayoral Engagements undertaken since the previous Council meeting.

(i) Leader may give an oral report on matters of significance to the Borough or comment upon the Cabinet decisions set out in Appendix C (ii) Cabinet Since the Council Meeting on 26 June 2008 the Cabinet has met on the 14th and 28th July and 15th September 2008 and Cabinet Members will present the matters resolved by the Cabinet within their Portfolio responsibilities. Members are asked to note the additionald delegations granted at those meetings (Appendix C) Members may ask questions of the relevant Cabinet Member for the purposes of clarification only.

To answer questions received under Council Procedure Rule 11.

(a) Councillor R.K. Austin will move, in accodance with Council Procedure Rule 12, the following Motion: "This Council recognises the urgent need to focus on providing new affordable housing for rent and sale to help first time buyers and to support home owners who find themselves in difficulty. This focus is ever more necessary following the crisis in the world's banking system, resulting in the fall in house prices and availability of mortgages. With this in mind the Council welcomes the measures recently annonced by the Government to support the housing market and the concept ofa Telford Housing Summit being proposed by David Wright MP. This council agrees to participate fully in the Telford Housing Summit and work with a wide range of partners to prioritise the development of affordable houses for rent and sale." The motion will be seconded by Councillor C.F. Smith (b) Councillor A.G.P. Williams will move, in accordance with Council Procedure Rule 12, the following Motion: "This Council welcomes the agreement between the Council and Arriva to extend the use of bus passes beyond 11 pm until the end of services Monday to Friday and asks the Cabinet to consider funding the use of bus passes from 8.30 am as part of the consultation process for the 2009/10 budget." The motion will be seconded by Councillor V. Tonks
